with Complete Concussion Management
Andrews Hockey Growth Programs is dedicated to the safety of our current and future athletes. For this reason, we have teamed up with Complete Concussion Management (CCMI), through our most recent partnership with Sports Centre Physiotherapy. CCMI is a national research and concussion care organization who shares the same goal. By providing training on the most current, research-based, best practices within concussion to local health care providers, as well as our coaches & training staff, this partnership brings the concussion issue under control and allows kids to continue enjoying the sport they love while also ensuring their safety. Through CCMI, Andrews Hockey Growth Programs is not only providing evidence-based concussion care of young athletes, but also helping further concussion research for the rest of the world and the future health of our athletes.
Andrews Hockey Growth Programs will be offering concussion baseline testing this year using the CCMI program. Baseline testing is a term used to describe a series of physical and cognitive tests designed to provide a pre-injury overview of an individual’s healthy brain function. The purpose of these tests is to provide clinicians with an objective benchmark on which to compare should an athlete sustain a concussion. As the symptoms of a concussion will often dissipate days to weeks before the brain has fully recovered, having objective baseline information provides clinicians with valuable information which can help to make safer return to play decisions.
Complete Concussion Management baseline test results are stored electronically and can be accessed in the event of an injury by over 190 Complete Concussion Management treatment centers in Canada. All fees (baseline and post-injury) are covered through physiotherapy and chiropractic extended health benefits.
