Andrews Sports Institute Recognized by Department of Education and Lifelong Learning

Andrews Sports Institute (ASI) for Future Leaders has had a busy year. After piloting the ASI Remote Program, which attracted students from around the world, ASI has been approved by the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning to have their Program recognized as an external credit. In other words, PEI high school students can now receive official high school credits for their participation in the Program. Since the approval, Ben MacDonald, ASI’s Director, has been busy preparing for the new Program which will be available to Island students this fall and winter.

“We are thrilled to have been accepted by the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning to make ASI’s ‘Discover Leadership Through Sport’ an external credit. We have had the opportunity to work with some fantastic individuals and cannot thank them enough for their guidance throughout the process. We look forward to continuing the development of Island youth academically and in hockey.” – ASI Director Ben MacDonald.

The new program ‘Discover Leadership Through Sport’ will now credit students who meet the requirements of the course. The Program features four core modules: leadership, hockey skill development, reading, and service-learning. The goal is not only to develop strong hockey players but also to provide students with the tools and experience to become influential future leaders in their communities.
