PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

‘Dominate the Contact Game with Confidence’

Andrews Hockey understands the big jump that players take moving from Peewee to Bantam. There is a large adjustment to play at the Bantam level where checking is introduced for the first time. Checking is a purposeful skill in the game and like other skills such as: skating, puck control, and shooting, checking skills can be developed and mastered.

The Fearless Warrior Camp teaches players how to properly check and receive checks in order to be prepared for high-level play at the Bantam level. Skills taught in the camp include:

  • Proper checking techniques
  • Skills to receive body contact safely
  • Escape moves to avoid checks
  • Tactical puck protection
  • How to be strong on your skates
  • Scoring Skills in tight space
  • Power moves to use your body to gain space
  • Heads up play & awareness
  • Skating skills to both check & receive checks safely & effectively
  • Mental skills to play the game with courage and confidence

Players will also work through off-ice gym and classroom sessions focused on:

  • Video session on Game Situations where checking occurs
  • Off-ice exercises to increase strength, power, and stability
  • Injury prevention and rehabilitation
  • Information on concussions- how to prevent, diagnose, and rehabilitate
  • Individual player assessment- how to be effective playing against different size players

The camp will include a daily (Monday-Friday) schedule consisting of:

  • Competitive Edge Skating Session- focus on being strong and powerful on your edges to play through contact
  • Body Contact & Puck Possession Session- focus on proper techniques of checking & receiving checks as well as tactical skills to be an effective player in a contact sport
  • Controlled Contact Game- Apply the skills learned in the camp in a controlled environment through a daily game
  • Game Situation Body Contact Video Teaching Session

  • Personal Growth & Leadership Classroom Session

Camp will also include a Sunday Orientation & On-ice skill development session as well as a Saturday wrap up Game & Skills competition.

Schedules are released 10 days prior to your program start date.  These will be sent to the email you have provided with your registration. Please note your child could have a start time between 7 AM & 1 PM.  We try our very best to start the younger age groups earlier in the day.

Given the current climate surrounding COVID-19, we are implementing a more lenient refund policy for Summer 2020. Players and goalies will now have the ability to obtain a full refund as long as the intention to cancel is received by e-mail 21 days prior to the camp start date. For example, if you camp starts on July 28, you must cancel by July 7. We hope that this will put camp attendees at ease as we work together in order continue on the path of development!
