Sunday is an orientation day which gives us an opportunity to share our Program Philosophy and prepare kids and parents for what to expect during the week. Sunday is also used as an opportunity for players to get on the ice for a warm-up skate which allows them to get comfortable before the week begins. Two weeks prior to the camp, participants will receive a detailed schedule via email which will go through the Sunday schedule.

Everyone’s day on Sunday begins with a meeting in the main lobby of the Bell Aliant Centre. We then proceed over to the auditorium for Orientation, after which check-in takes place back at the Rink.  Each Group has a scheduled skate time which takes place after they have checked in.

WHAT DOES SUNDAY'S ORIENTATION ENTAIL?

Sunday’s orientation is an opportunity for us to share our Program Philosophy and get the kids excited for the week. This interactive session includes videos, pictures and talks from our Head Staff members Allan Andrews, Josh Andrews and Brad MacKenzie.  During this session we will also go

WHAT IS YOUR TESTING SYSTEM?

Our testing system is a scientifically researched and developed system which allows us to track player’s progress from year to year and identify potential demonstrators. During the course of the week players are tested for on-ice skating and on-ice puck skills. On the ice our Head Instructors evaluate all components of a player’s skating and puck skills based off a set of specific criteria.

WHAT DO THE RESULTS MEAN?

Every score a player receives on a specific skill is a score out of 10. Our testing system is a progressive system in which players can work their way up to their Gold Skate and Gold Stick. The progression up to this level includes Bronze and Silver Awards.

In order to receive a BronzeAward a player must receive a score of at least 3 on all Bronze Skills. Once a Player has achieved this award he/she will be tested for his/her Silver Skills and can achieve a Silver Award if scores
of all 6’s are achieved. Once a player has achieved their Silver Award they will be tested for Gold in which they must receive a score of all 10’s in order to achieve their Gold Award.

HOW CAN I VIEW MY TESTING RESULTS?

Two weeks after the conclusion of your camp you can log on to your account to view your testing scores. When you log on to the website Go to your Profile and Click “Camps” under which you can click “View.” This will show you your testing scores for that camp. If you achieve an Award you will receive a letter along with the Award following the camp.
